Participation by Commercial Port of Vladivostok in the Customs Experiment

In 2014 Commercial Port of Vladivostok, part of FESCO Transportation Group, got involved in the experiment on simplified customs procedures pursuant to the decree of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation.

The experiment includes goods and vehicles moving through the customs border of the Russian Federation. It will last until December 31, 2014 and envisage a wide range of measures aimed at reducing dwell time of the goods in the port area.

The experiment is to enhance synergies between Commercial Port of Vladivostok and Customs Authorities, freight forwarders, carriers and other players of transport process. Customs procedures will be simplified by the introduction of preliminary notification of Customs Authorities of arriving vessel and goods in the port. This will enable the port to effectively plan the schedule of vessels handling, cargo operations, as well as efficiently utilize storage areas.

“Comprehensive approach of simplifying customs procedures will make it possible to improve synergy between all the participants of cargo transportation, decrease cargo dwell time in the port, arrange faster deliveries to the consignees. This will in turn spur container flows to increase and competitive advantages of the port to improve,” says Konstantin Sokolov, Managing Director of Commercial Port of Vladivostok.
